Halloween at riki

Halloween is one of my absolute favorite holidays. Here in Davis it tends to get pretty crazy with thousands of little (or not so little) trick-or-treaters coming by for our yearly downtown event put on by the Downtown Davis Business Association.

For the occasion we decided to pair some great orange pieces, a Fillmore short trench, and Karoo cashmere sweater with black skirts and pants and wraps from IKKS, France.

Happy Halloween!

Current Fall Looks in Our Stores

New riki jackets just arrived in wonderful Italian wools that are fully lined in solid black as well as tweeds in fall colors. Great for work when paired with skirts or slacks or just with jeans for a refined but casual look.

We love Rachel Pally dresses. Great quality, impeccable fit, fun colors-- dresses that can go from day into evening just by changing accessories.

IKKS, cotelac, and riki merchandise well together in this urban fall look. Wear it with ankle boots (see this month's look) or tall boots and you are ready to go.

Italian Wools

Just a few teaser pictures of styles from our new Italian shipment that's already on its way. We can hardly wait to get it into our stores. Everything sold out so fast last time that we started a waiting list for the new arrivals. We will send out an emailer when everything gets here. Hopefully you will be able to attend our 'Italian Evening' when we will also taste and raffle off a case of fine Italian wine. Please let us know if you are interested to attend.

Ciao

Fall Pieces by Neen

We just received our new fall shipments from France we had so been waiting for. There are some absolutely fabulous pieces from Neen, such as this heavier gauge knit top. What a back! It looks so refined that it can easily be worn as an evening top over a satin skirt or trouser pant, or over a lightweight long sleeve layering piece for a more polished day look. Either way it will be a showstopper!

There are also chunky cable knit cardigans in sophisticated grey tones, a long merino wool knit coat as well as fine gauge knit dresses in muted purple hues and black. These are very special pieces, refined in their detailing and construction and impeccable in fit, I absolutely love them!

Riki

I feel that I have to share this story with you. As many of you already know, riki started out as a children’s wear company, selling fun, comfortable cotton clothing to all major department stores as well as specialty boutiques nation wide. There was always black in the line, either in stripes, buttons, or trims--this was certainly a stretch for the 80’s, but adored by many of you. I was introduced to this young lady the other day in my store. Her name is Riki, and her mother told me the story of how much she loved the riki kids line. While pregnant, she couldn’t resist shopping for the line and concentrated on somewhat unisex looks, but after finding out the sex of her baby she went all out for those cute little dresses with lettuce edged collars and bloomers and blouses, etc. So, while making her check out to riki she made up her mind to name her daughter after the store she loved so much. All those cute little clothes are now boxed up, waiting to be worn by the next generation of “riki girls.” Needless to say, it got me all teary eyed.
