When I was a teenager growing up in Northern Europe near the French and Luxembourg borders, my friends and I would take the train to visit the haute couture districts of Paris. We couldn’t afford the high prices, of course. But it was on those trips that I came to appreciate how exceptional design, fine detailing and exquisite fabrics can combine to create a look and feel that are at once captivating and sublime. For me, it was the beginning of a lifelong love affair with fashion and fabrics.

Today, now that I have my own Riki label, I want my customers to experience that same great look and feel when they visit any of my Riki boutique locations.

When Davis-based Riki designer Ursula introduced her unique women’s wear line in the early nineties, her philosophy was a simple one: To create a European look and a feel that would be stylish yet comfortable, youthful but not too trendy, chic yet affordable. Today the made-in-California Riki label — available at Ursula’s two Northern California Riki boutique locations — draws loyal customers from as far away as New York City.
